Wild seabuckthorn fruit

What is Seabuckthorn?

Seabuckthorn (hippophae rhamnoides L.), is a very thorny shrub that grows between 2 to 4 metres tall, has a high tolerance for arid and wet soil conditions & pH variations from 5-9. For thousands of years Tibetans used this fruit that grows wild in the Himalayan Mountains as food and medicine to treat many serious health conditions ranging from breathing disorders to skin problems. Now science is proving that seabuckthorn is potent natural medicine.

Like many superfoods, seabuckthorn contains numerous powerful antioxidants that help the body deal with free radical damage (now linked to almost every illness and aging). But seabuckthorn doesn’t stop there, it is also an excellent source of important Omega 7s. You may have heard of Omega 3s, 6s, and 9s, but 7s are also important; and seabuckthorn is one of the best sources of this critical essential fat.

In some countries like Tibet, China, Russia and Ukraine, Seabuckthorn oil is a popular home-made ointment for minor cuts, sunburn, and skin irritation; and its curative properties have been confirmed by scientific research.

Why choose seabuckthorn from Inner Mongolia plateau?

1. Wild grown seabuckthorn

Wild grown seabuckthorn is far more superior than human grown seabuckthorn that might be contaminated by chemicals, inorganic fertilizers & hazardous pesticides. Wild grown seabuckthorn tend to possess higher amount of bio-available nutrients due to the plant natural norm to preserve nutrients in harsh conditions (Wild seabuckthorn in Inner Mongolia survived & flourished under the extreme weather of -40˚C during winter & 40˚C during summer).

The plant grows on 3000m above sea levels, free from any air and soil pollution. 95% of the world's wild grown seabuckthorn shrubs are from the plateau of Mongolia, China.
Therefore, our seabuckthorn fruit comes from the best and unpolluted source of premium quality.

2. Supplements for Russia & China astronauts

Since 1961 till today, USSR & China astronauts have been using seabuckthorn as supplement to prevent hazardous effects from space radiation. Later, the International Seabuckthorn Association (ISA) was formed in 1999 to replace the ICRTS(International Centre for Research & Training on Seabuckthorn). Over the years, the ISA conferences were held in China, Siberia, Germany, Canada, Rusia for this great wild berry that has been internationally acknowledged. 32 countries including China, Finland, Germany, Russia, Canada, India, the USA and so on attended the conference at 6th International Seabuckthorn Association Conference which was held in Potsdam, Oct 2013. With the increased interest in the amazing benefits of the Seabuckthorn, United States Seabuckthorn Association (USSA) was established in 2012.

3. Nutrient Powerhouse

Sea buckthorn also contains over 190 bio-active nutrients and phytonutrients, making it an extreme superfood. It has plentiful amounts of flavonoids (7 different types serve as powerful antioxidants) - phytonutrients found in research to prevent cancer cells from multiplying while reducing pain and inflammation, and contributing to weight loss in overweight individuals. The superfruit also contains plentiful amounts of the important healing enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD)—actually, four times more than ginseng, another good source of SOD.

Seabuckthorn's Nutrients Compounds:

Mucopolysaccharides - boost immune system.
Protein - Contains 18 types of ammino acid & all 8 essential amino acids.
Fats - Fatty acids ranging from omega 3, 6, 7 & 9.
Vitamins - Contains all 4 types of fat soluble vitamin (A, D, E & K) , water soluble vitamins (B1, B2, B5, B12, Folic Acid, Biotin & C). B9 (crucial for DNA repair & regeneration), largest amount of Vitamin C & beta-carotene among all fruits on earth.
Minerals - Contains 10 out of 14 essential minerals (potassium, sodium, calcium, chromium, magnesium, zinc, ferum, manganese, copper & molybdenum)
Phyto-essence - Flavonoids (powerful anti-oxidants), organic acids (protects liver & relieve the poison & side effects of antibiotics & other drugs), lecithin (prevent fatty liver & cirrhosis), carotenoids(faster wound healing & anti-inflammation).
Antioxidants - ORAC value reaching 70000 units (Note: ORAC "Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity" is a measurement of how strong is an antioxidant. The US Dept of Agriculture recommends people to consume 5000 ORAC units everyday.

What are the benefits of seabuckthorn to human health & diseases?

  • Breathing Conditions and Heart Disease Asthma, chronic coughs, other breathing disorders, and skin conditions are a few of the traditional uses for sea buckthorn, but it has also been shown to improve the health of eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Other research shows it dramatically reduces harmful cholesterol levels and C-reactive protein, which is known to inflame and damage cells and be linked to illnesses like heart disease.

  • GI Healing Its anti-ulcer compounds combined with its natural anti-inflammatories make sea buckthorn an excellent choice for gastrointestinal complaints. The oil appears to provide a protective and healing coating to the stomach and gastrointestinal (GI) tract, reducing the effects of harmful microbes like E-coli.

  • Skin Regenerator When it comes to skin conditions, it has been shown effective in a wide variety of ailments, including: acne, burns, dermatitis, eczema, rosacea, stretch marks, and wounds. Many of its 190 nutrients are likely at work in these conditions but its high amounts of Omega 7s cause skin cell regeneration, minimizing wrinkling and the appearance of aging skin. Based on research published in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications scientists concluded that sea buckthorn could be used as a therapeutic agent against inflammatory skin diseases.

  • Cancer Fighter Sea buckthorn’s cancer-fighting abilities are impressive. In a study published in ISRN Pharmacology, researchers found that sea buckthorn was effective at killing cancer cells and lymphatic leukemia. Other research published in the journals Fitoterapia and Nutrition and Cancer showed that seabuckthorn exhibited remarkable antitumor activity and anticancer effects.

  • Weight Loss As if all of the above wasn’t enough reason to love sea buckthorn, this overachieving superfruit also helps with weight loss. Few foods can match sea buckthorn’s high levels of Omega 7s which work as signals to stop the body from storing fat. It also helps people keep the weight off once its lost.

  • Cognitive and Motor Impairment Multiple studies show sea buckthorn’s effectiveness at reducing cognitive impairment and the treatment of a condition called dyskinesia. Dyskinesia is a degenerative neurological condition involving motor impairment. Research published in Medical Science Monitor found that sea buckthorn fruit extract has a protective effect against dyskinesia.

  • Super-immunity, Energy-Boosting, and UV Protection It’s no surprise that any food this rich in nutrients would also boost the immune system and energy levels. Sea buckthorn oil also works as a natural sun-protectant.

4. The extraction method & technology in extractions

Hexane is used in the processing of most sea buckthorn on the market, even by many companies claiming “vegetable oils” used in the extraction of seabuckthorn’s therapeutic compounds. However, the residue from the solvent will cause impurity to the extraction of the seabuckthorn berry. There are many different sea buckthorn products, including: berry oil and berry oil capsules, seed oil and seed oil capsules, powder concentrates and capsules containing the concentrated powder, as well as skin care products.
Therefore it is important to choose a reputable company that is committed to the highest standards of purity.

Our Seabuckthorn Capsules are extracted using the Supercritical CO2 method (using low temperature to protect the nutrient compounds from damages, it's pure & free from solvent, with high concentrated active nutrients), with the most advanced technology & equipments from German & Japan in order to control the quality & physiochemical parameter.
